as in, coerced by parents or other such authority. example: you are told to take up nursing, when you want to take up english and philippine literature...
What if you are forced to take up a college course w/c you didn't choose or want. how do you deal?
It happens every time. That's the problem with parents trying to impose their own choice of vocation on their children. The results are always bad. It's not late, in your case, however. Having a nursing degree tucked under your belt, you can still pursue your dreams of taking up English or Philippine Literature. Who knows that would turn out to be to your advantage?
Reply:if your family can afford it, finish it then take up what you want. if your family can't, switch. if they don't want to accept it, fail your subject deliberately.
Reply:I never ever do that. It's me who has to like the subjects that I study, so I choose the ones that I like. And again it's me who chooses what I wish to be in the future, not my parents or anybody else.
Reply:It is important to pursue something that interests you. It isn't just about the class or major, it is about what you are going to be doing for the rest of your life. You are an adult in college and it is time to start making your own decisions, but wise counsel is nice to have.
Reply:Take your parents out to lunch (to rid of distractions), then talk to them heart to heart.
Tell them whats on your mind. Show that you're standing up to yourself, and that they can trust you with whatever decision you make. You need to show them that you're now responsible and want to lead your own life.
If you continue this course you're taking which you do not like, you'll end up wasting 4 years of your life. And college years is very important, since college graduates today are very competitive. Plus, jobs are low.
Reply:Do NOT let people force you to go into a field you don't want.
It's your life that you have to live, and you don't want to be completely miserable for all of it.
It's bad for you, and it would be bad for all the people that you don't want to be nursing.
Do whatever you have to do to change majors.
Reply:i don't think you will focus on your studies. if you had forced, better don't let go, you will just pity yourself throughout.
Reply:study only what YOU want
drop the class, change your major
then blame only yourself if and when it doesn't or does work out well
