No A/C. How do I create a good breeze?

My apartment building is being remodeled and they took the a/c out for at least a month. And of course, it's been hitting the high 70's all week long. My apartment is miserable...and so am I. How do I create a good breeze with fan(s) and the windows/doors open?

The the fans have to be in a certain spot? If you imagine what a 90 degree angle looks like....i have a window on one side of the angle and a window and a door on the other angle. Make sense?

I think making a good breeze is something that you can't really control, I mean if you have the window's open and the wind isn't blowing I don't know what you can do.

This may help you. Put a big bowl of ice in front of the fan. That way your fan will be blowing cooler air on you. I know it sounds silly but it works.
Reply:The best way, by far, to cool a room (when you don't have AC) is to PULL air through the room. We lived in a house for 26 years that did not have AC...but what we did have was a nice large attic fan that pulled air in through our windows and up into the attic.

So, get a box fan (24 x 24 or 30 x 30, depending on the size of your window) and put it in one of your windows. Make sure that it is blowing out. Then, open your other window. The fan will suck air through the apt. and cool the place down very nicely.
Reply:best thing i can think of is to have one fan in a window pointed in, and another in the other window pointed out, this will help the air move through your room faster and help keep it cooler.
Reply:When you open your windows, only open the top and the bottom(if the top window opens) about 4 inches and open a window opposite it the same amount. you will create a cross draft.
Reply:Do you know anyone at the fire Department they have smoke blowers that are like typhoon speed.

Sounds like you have a problem. You could go buy a real big fan and depending on which way the wind is blowing aim the fan into or out of the doorway....You don't always need to blow air in to cool.

Or go to the Managers office and take their A/C
Reply:well. if you open up the window and but a box fan it would be a pretty good brezze.
