2 C's on Midterm Grade Report, college chances ruined?

I've got a C in both AP Physics and AP Statistics

The rest of my grades are A's and one B+

My grades from previous years have been pretty good (all A's and B's) I've done all honors and AP courses

I applied to:

George Mason University

Virginia Tech

VCU

U. of Mary Washington

University of Richmond

2 C's on Midterm Grade Report, college chances ruined?
midterms are used as a reference but your overall grades, sat scores, activites, and essay are what reall matter so dont worry.
Reply:For some of the state schools you've listed, your chances are probably better if you live in the state. However, if your standardized test scores and essays are good, and you have good extracurriculars, I think your chances are good anyway. Plus, you've shown that you can excel in some AP and honors courses, which are rigorous. I remember when I applied to college last year, I was so nervous, too! I'd suggest going on collegeconfidential.com-they have message boards for every school there. I found it pretty helpful/uplifting when I was in your situation! (PS-I didn't do too well in the first semester of my senior year, either, and I got into my top choice!) Good luck, and enjoy the rest of senior year!
Reply:are you a senior?

im pretty sure they already made their decisions
Reply:sorry but i really dont know but im tihnking about going to george mason when i go to college and i hear its a good school
Reply:it will definitely make an impact on the admissions person looking at your files. but that isn't to say they will reject you just because of it. a major part is also, have you been accpeted to any of these places through EA? if so then it is less important that you got C's. either way it shouldn't be too too big of a deal
Reply:You are perfectly fine, you are not applying to any Ivey league schools so don't worry. Besides your AP classes are weighed so they really count as B's.
Reply:YOU GO GIRLIEE!!! WOOOOW! you are TOTALLY fine for college. anyway...its only a midtern! you can totally bring the grades up by the end of the marking period!
Reply:You're still OK (doesn't help, but it's not fatal). Just make sure that you have strong SAT/ACT scores and hopefully you're not targeting a technical major (engineering, math, physics, pre-med). For a liberal arts or other focus you should be fine. Rocking the APs (4s or 5s) will also show schools that you know the material. Also the schools that you applied to are selective, but not crazy-selective like MIT, Stanford, Ivy's, etc.
Reply:Midterms don't show on your transcript - only your final grades for the class. Work hard and pull those grades up, and you'll be fine.
Reply:Luckly VT looks at weighted grades...3.8+ (weighted) easy to get.

And colleges dont really look at midterm, only final grade, gpa, community service, after school activities, ect. Get those Cs to a B or even an A and that should keep you safe.
Reply:Colleges will look at your grades, true enough. They will also look at standardized test scores and community involvement. Chances are if you're a good person and take learning seriously, any university would be proud to have you. Worry more about where you'll be getting financial aid, since most scholarships look at grades first.
Reply:Don't listen to him. I think people who can't spell the word 'anywhere' are the ones going nowhere in life. Sorry dude.

As for your question... I'm British, so I don't really know about American colleges and stuff. Sorryyyyy.
Reply:well you got c's in two tough and advanced classes if you passed other AP tests and received a 3 or higher (giving you college credit) you still have a good shot.
Reply:Hey those classes are TOUGH and I bet colleges know that. As this is your senior yr, just hold on and try and get those grades up. It's all good, no worries.
Reply:As long as you don't get C's as your final grade on your report card you should be fine.
Reply:umm better look into community college or hope VCU comes through.
Reply:No...concentrate on your work and stop worrying. THAT will interfere with your grades! KJL
Reply:no, i dont think your college chances will be ruined because since you took high level courses many colleges will take that into consideration. Also, if your SAT scores are good then there's probably nothing to worry about. Good luck with your colleges!!!!!
Reply:depends on the univ...u sitll have a really good chance...thats probably just one semester...they look at ur transcript and ****....so u have a good chance....goodluck
Reply:first of all, it's mid terms so it probably dosn't effect your gpa so colleges will never know, second in an ap class grades are usually weighted so you'll get a 3.0 for a c instead of a 2.0

im sure if you pull them up by the end of term you'll be fine
