During a C.P.R course I was told to resusscitate between the nipples - does this apply to elderly ladies too?

If you're recussitating between the nipples you're going to have problems unless their mouth or nose has moved to their chest. I know everything drops with time, but wow... :) I think with elderly ladies you should do chest compressions between where their nipples USED to be.

No that is stomach pumping
Reply:You're going to resusscitate between their knees?
Reply:not where they are........... where they should be
Reply:You use the same technique for all ages except babies. You just use your fingers and don't apply as much force.
Reply:lol. This also applies to women who choose not to wear a bra.
Reply:ROFL!!! Good one just to picture it!!!
Reply:strange course youve been on.

i seem to remember in my medic first aid , its about three fingers up from the bottom of the sternum
Reply:using you hands between the breasts and counts of 100

100, press, two hundred press.....500 press and then hold the nose and blow
Reply:Only if you can get the nipples to line up and that line is 10.563 inches above the navel or 6.27 inches below the chin after the head has been tilted back to clear the airway. The nipples must rise at least 1.7 centimeters above the areola which must have at least 3 bumps each to insure the proper performance of 30 compressions followed by two breaths of air enhanced with the presence of the essence of two recently consumed Tic-Tacs or some other breath freshener.

Even though the nipples my not remain spatially static to the rest of the anatomy, the heart usually does and the location of the heart is what is important.
Reply:Who is teaching the course? You do compressions three fingers up from where you feel the tip of the bottom of the breast bone.
